Lavender grows as a woody perennial to 24" high.  Zones 5-8.  Prefers dry, sunny situation in full sun.  Well drained soil.  In the soggy northwest, it seems to do best on a southern facing slope in sandy soil.

Used traditionally to ease flatulence, headache, for indigestion and nausea and for it's antiseptic properties.  Lavender is also mildly sedative and has been used as part of calming teas.
