Horehound is an herbaceous perennial that grows in zones 3-8.  The plant reaches 12-24" high and produces small white flowers mid summer until fall.  It is a bee magnet that prospers in full sun in poorer soils.

Traditionally used as a diaphoretic, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant and tonic for respiratory ailments.  It is reputed to balance secretions within the body.  A room temperature tea of the plant is said to stimulate the appetite (probably due to the bitters in the plant) and a hot tea is said to be diaphoretic.
